On day 5, we ended up staying and playing at the resort. We
were going to take the collectivo (the local bus system) to Xel Ha and I was going to swim with the dolphins. Just by chance
we asked about it at the desk and were told that I wouldn’t get in today for sure as it was full, but that there were
spots for Friday at noon. I said yes.
Later on the other side of the bay the
snorkelling proved interesting in a different sort of way. The surf was rougher and the sand was stirred up in it so the visibility
was diminished, but it was more like what I am used to anyway. Well the rougher water made more provided for a different bounty
of aquatic life. I saw one of those fish that lays flat on the bottom. It blends in so well that you can hardly see it in
the picture I took. To my eyes it was kind of white with speckles of greens and blues. It almost looked like lace. Then I saw a sea urchin, the spiny kind. I have a picture of it too.
